Autumn Blooms

Autumn is the harbinger of death,

the foreshadowing of a winter to come.

It grasps life within its weathered hands,

kisses it tenderly with dry, cold lips

before laying it to rest.

This year, however,

Autumn allowed the blooms to linger,

 a reward for our isolation.
