Colloquial – Adjective

“(Of language) used in ordinary or familiar conversation; not formal or literary”

Jim, spoke to his mates with a form of colloquial language only associated with men who wear wife-basher singlets, football shorts and bucket hats.

Whilst to strangers, Jim was a simple man who responded with single syllabic words or neanderthalic grunts.
