Deadwood – Noun

“Useless or burdensome persons or things”

“We’re going to die,” Jackie blubbered quietly “We’re totally going to die!”

Dan, pulling Jackie by her elbow, contemplated leaving her behind as they round yet another bloodied corner. She was deadwood, lacking absolutely no survival skills, and in an apocalypse would most likely get them killed. But, she was also his cousin, and you never leave family behind – right?

“I’m going to die aren’t I?!” She continued, “I’m too pretty to die.”

Dan rolled his eyes, and continued dragging his distraught cousin along.
