Logomachy – Noun

 “A dispute about or concerning words”

They’d spent many hours, over tea and crumpets, engaged in a discussion about history; more specifically the history of dressmaking. The discussion had been thoroughly riveting for Heather and Joyce until Heather mispronounced the word Mantua-maker (a term used to describe an 18th Century dressmaker), over accentuating the constant ‘T’ and lengthening the vowels to a ridiculous extent. This then led to a logomachy marathon, until Heather finally submitted to the fact that she was greatly wrong.
