“Wintry”

Today is the day that I spend with my family,

In celebration of a babe born of salvation.

Many others will celebrate this day too,

Though reasons will vary, between me and you.

For me, Christmas is hot as an oven and fly-ridden,

Whilst yours may be brumal and frostbitten.

Some of us will give presents of the materialistic variety,

Whilst others give time, good company and laughter.

And the feasts, some will have with roasts of chicken, turkey and ham,

Whilst we’ll be scoffing seafood and beer from a can.
