Frisson – Noun

“A moment of intense excitement”

It was now or never.

The frisson of anticipation,

too much to bare.

Molly was leaning in,

Her lips, slick with gloss,

Her eyes closed.

He had to do this,

They were dating after all,

And half of the playground

Was eagerly watching.

He took a breath,

And leant in.

Molly’s lips met his,

And he sore his heart

Stopped.

The circled that had gathered

Around them,

Burst into an eruption

Of cheers.

Molly pulls away,

Her face paisley red.

Twelve years old,

Three days into a relationship,

And Tom had just kissed his first girl.
